Program Information

Frostburg State University’s Multidisciplinary Studies program offers a broad-based curriculum that explores topics in business, the arts, social sciences, and humanities to complete degree requirements fully online. The flexible format allows students to accomplish their goals without disrupting personal, family, and professional commitments.

Students will complete 21 credits of core courses, as well as a flexible range of electives, and a multidisciplinary capstone experience. Up to 12 credit hours can be earned for internship credit, allowing you to earn credit for work experience. This degree program provides a path to achieve bachelor’s degrees for those students whose interests lie in multiple areas and/or whose accumulated semester credit hours may not otherwise combine to qualify them for one of FSU's other baccalaureate degrees.

Students selecting the Multidisciplinary Studies major are expected to achieve the following student learning outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of topics in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and business and their interrelationships in the context of current issues in society
  2. Research and critically evaluate information from various perspectives and disciplines
  3. Connect knowledge and learning in interdisciplinary fields
  4. Communicate information and ideas effectively in writing
  5. Present ideas and arguments effectively in oral format
